AJ McCormick

Executive Assistant

AJ holds a B.A. and M.A. in English, specializing in Technical Communication and Rhetoric. With experience in nonprofits, higher education, document and graphic design, and journalism, she has a keen understanding of communication challenges and actively studies and practices creating engaging and accessible content. In addition to content creation, AJ has served as project director/co-director for multiple grants and written/co-written/edited multiple awarded grants. She has worked as the Assistant Director for the Center for the Study of the American West and was an English Instructor at West Texas A&M University, teaching first-year writing and advanced composition, technical communication, and introduction to literature, while also teaching faculty how to use different technologies in the classroom. As a researcher, she’s presented on topics ranging from Ecofeminism to Universal Design. Eventually, she decided to leave academia to dedicate her talents towards helping others, and thus found SAFE. AJ was drawn to SAFE’s warm, positive environment, and every day she learns from and is inspired by SAFE’s work. She enjoys studying and creating recipes, birdwatching, and learning.
