Community Outreach Counselor
Description and Responsibilities

SAFE's Community Outreach Counselor works in partnership with our schools, community members, and unhoused population. Their primary directive is to support SEL-focused programming for students and families impacted by mental health, substance use, and housing concerns. This includes programming designed to reduce the impact of opioid addiction and overdose, funded by opioid abatements in towns around southeastern Massachusetts. 

 

The SAFE Coalition community is made up of a multidisciplinary team of clinicians, peer specialist, family recovery professionals, and social work professionals who provide wraparound support to those seeking care.

Qualifications
  • Develop unique 90-day support plans for individuals and families seeking support

  • Offer SEL instruction for high school-aged youth based on SAFE's established curriculum

  • Collaborate with community stakeholders on opioid abatement funds to offer community services and programming

  • Provide rehousing support and independent living skill-building for those transitioning to new forms of housing

  • Enhance relationships with community members

Other Key Responsibilities:
  • BA or BS in Social Work, Psychology preferred (Masters encouraged)

  • Background in youth work, counseling, or benefits planning

  • Valid Driver’s License, reliable and insured vehicle, and acceptable driving record, required. 

  • Skilled in Microsoft system (Outlook, Excel, Work, Powerpoint)

Hours
  • Monday – Friday

  • 10:00am – 2:00pm

  • Flexible hours if needed

Salary

$25.00/hr
